How Interval's Uptrade works

Based on Interval's Buyers' Guide 2026—Amended (correct as of October 3, 2026) and the Deposit Lead Time Guide shown in member accounts.

What changed

On October 3, 2026, Uptrade replaced Interval's Unit-Size Upgrade for members who exchange weeks. Instead of only counting bedrooms, Interval now puts a number on every week and charges by how far apart two weeks are. Points-based exchanges (Club Interval Points, Collection Points) don't use Trading Power.

Two numbers

Interval may adjust both once a year.

Exchange Value ranges

The Buyers' Guide publishes the range for each resort rating and unit size:

Exchange Value ranges by resort rating and unit size
Resort ratingStudio1BR2BR3BR4BR+
Elite (lotus)11–2314–2718–3119–3220–33
Premier (laurel)9–2212–2516–2917–3018–31
Select (pineapple)7–2010–2314–2715–2816–29
Affiliate (no badge)5–188–2112–2513–2614–27

Our reading of the table: each step up in rating adds 2, and the unit-size steps are +3 (Studio to 1BR), +4 (1BR to 2BR), +1 and +1. Within a rating and size, season and demand spread weeks across about 13 values, more than the whole gap between ratings. Interval doesn't state this pattern; it's what the numbers show.

Upgrade fees

You can book a week up to 2 above your Trading Power at no extra charge. Bigger gaps cost:

Uptrade fees by how far Exchange Value exceeds Trading Power

Up to +2No additional fee
From +3 to +5$99
From +6 to +8$199
From +9 to +11$399

Deposit timing

Depositing later cuts Trading Power by a percentage:
